We should pray for Nepal because God cares for every nation. The Church in Nepal sees tremendous growth in church planting and also faces challenges and persecution. Even high-level political leaders sometimes show double standards and speak against the activities of the Churches in Nepal, inspiring and mobilizing radical anti-Christians to increase hate comments towards innocent Christians. But we, as Christians who believe in God, like Daniel, should pray and believe that prayer is powerful and can bring spiritual healing, peace, and protection to people, political leaders, and the state.
Here are a few points why we should pray for Nepal
To support a fast-growing Church
Raising local leaders: Nepal has one of the fastest-growing Christian populations in the world. So we need to pray for new pastors to get good biblical training so they can lead their churches well and stand for what is right for their community.
Sending out missionaries: The Nepali Church is shifting from being just a mission field to a mission force. and are now stepping out in boldness to share the gospel in remote places in Nepal and sending workers outside Nepal.
For Strength Amid Persecution
Legal struggles: The government of Nepal has strict laws against Christian conversion. Believers risk punishment in prison just for sharing their faith.
Social pressure: Most people in Nepal are Hindu or Buddhist. New Christians often face severe pressure or rejection from their own families and local society. Pray for their protection, wisdom, and endurance.
Unreached places: Many remote mountain villages have no access to the gospel. Pray for workers to travel to these hard-to-reach locations. Before any cities were built, people were there and are still there.
For the Nation’s Well-Being
Healing from disasters: Nepal still feels the deep wounds of past tragedies, like the royal massacre, the Maoist people’s war, massive earthquakes, and the killing because of the political upheaval. Pray for the physical needs and long-term relief of families as they rebuild their lives.
Political peace: Nepal has a history of political instability. Pray for the country’s leaders to promote justice and peace for all citizens.
Amen
